Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has proven to be a leader who cares about the value for taxpayers’ money through ensuring all stalled projects from past regimes are completed.

One key project is the construction of Afraha Stadium that was started during the former Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s regime.
The Project has had challenges despite the phase one having been completed.
At one particular time, Football and sports fraternity held demonstrations demanding to understand what was going on.
Little did they know that through interventions of Governor Susan Kihika, the matter was being addressed from national government by President William Ruto himself.
And true to her words and her dedication to serve the residents of Nakuru and ensure value for money, Governor Kihika urged the President to step in and ensure the phase 2 of the project is complete.
On Tuesday July 1, 2025, a team from KDF toured the premise in company of county Secretary Dr Samuel Mwaura.
The team expressed readiness to support its second phase of construction.
To facilitate this collaboration, the County Government is currently preparing essential documents including structural plans and Bills of Quantities to guide KDF’s involvement.
In addition, the long-stalled Provincial General Hospital (PGH) Trauma Centre and other critical infrastructure projects in Nakuru are set for revival after President William Ruto responded to Governor Susan Kihika’s recent appeal during a visit to State House last month.

The Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital Trauma Centre that had stalled will be complete.
It should be noted that the facility was commissioned in 2012 by then-President Mwai Kibaki following the tragic Sachangwan fire disaster but has remained incomplete for over a decade.
Other projects to be fast-tracked include the completion of Afraha and Olenguruone stadiums, the upgrade of Lanet Airport, and the revival of the stalled Itare Dam.
President Ruto further pledged national support for Nakuru’s economic infrastructure, including the establishment of Special Economic Zones in Pipeline and Naivasha, and confirmed that the long-awaited dualing of the Rironi–Mau Summit Road will begin in August.
