Governor Kihika tasks parents to up parenting to ensure societal morals

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has called on parents to up their parentinghood.

Speaking in Mauche, Njoro sub county of Nakuru County during Madaraka Day Celebrations, Governor Kihika pointed out that parents’ behaviours have contributed to the poor morals among children in society.

Governor Kihika added that the recent happenings including fire tragedy at Utumishi Girls’ Academy in Gilgil, protests over fuel prices and other demonstrations reflects the society and how parents a times behave.

She noted that children are good imitators of what goes on in society hence the parents should be cautious on their actions and behaviours in society.

While pointing out that Nakuru County fire engine was once set ablaze by demonstrators, she was categorical that such incidents mean bad for the county in terms of disaster response.

The County Chief was categorical that demonstrations are in line with the constitution, but should not be used as avenue to mess up and destroy property.

Governor Kihika was accompanied by County Commissioner Dr Loyford Kibaara as she joined Nakuru residents in commemorating Madaraka Day- a historic occasion that laid the foundation for the Country’s freedom, dignity, and prosperity—during celebrations held at Imarisha Talanta Grounds in Teret, Mauche Ward, Njoro Sub-County.

Kihika underscored the importance of education—the theme of this year’s celebrations—as the greatest equalizer and the most valuable gift left for children for a brighter future.

She highlighted development projects across the County, adding that her administration  continue to deliver services for the people.

Present were Deputy Governor David Kones, Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria, CEC Members Zipporah Wambui, Stephen Njogu, and Ambrose Ngare, Deputy CS Newton Mwaura, Urban Development Chief Officer Kamau Kuria, MCAs led by area MCA Moses Koros, and members of the County Security Team.
