
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika on Thursday April 18, 2024 signed an MoU towards twinning of Nakuru City and China’s Nanjing City
This was signed when Governor Kihika hosted a delegation from China’s Jiangsu province led by Executive Deputy Governor of the region, Mr Ma Xin at the County Headquarters.
“We agreed on signing an MoU towards the twinning of Nakuru City and Nanjing City, the headquarters of the province that leads in finance, education, technology and tourism,” stated Kihika.
According to Governor Kihika, the MoU will go along way in giving Nakuru City a head way in transportation, waste management, urban planning and resilience, and improvement of critical amenities.
She used the opportunity to welcome the investments by Jiangsu business people with Mr Xin undertaking to market the investment opportunities in Nakuru mainly in hospitality, energy generation, agriculture, apparel and tourism.
“I was impressed by the partnership between Egerton University and Nanjing University that has seen establishment of the Confucious Institute which, apart from teaching Chinese Language to students, it has led in transfer of agricultural technology to our farmers with a Centre in Bahati Sub-county,” she stated.
The duo agreed on Jiangsu Province leadership to provide some scholarships to students from Nakuru County even as deepen cordial relations through cultural, technological and trade exchanges.
