Governor Kihika shares measures her administration has in place towards conservation of Mau Complex

The County Government of Nakuru has put in place several measures towards conservation of Mau Complex, a portion of which lies in Nakuru County.

Speaking on Wednesday October 1, 2025 during the launch of the 1st Edition of Mau Conservation Marathon that is scheduled for October 24, Governor Kihika highlighted some of the key measures her administration has put in place.

They include installing real-time air quality monitoring sensors to track pollution, restoring degraded forests, promoting livelihoods, and enhancing community engagement.

For the restoration of the MFC to succeed, Kihika noted that her administration has chosen to move conservation from boardrooms to the daily lives of the people it affects.

During the launch, Kihika also registered as the first participant and committed to sponsor 1,000 runners to take part in the marathon scheduled for 24th October 2025.

“We in Nakuru County are committed to nurturing young talent,” she stated.

The event was also graced by PS Environment Eng Dr. Festus Ng’eno, MPs Liza Chelule, Charity Kathambi, Alfred Mutai, Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones, CECMs, COs, MCAs, Athletics Kenya officials among others.

Steeplechase World Athletics Championships gold medalist Faith Cherotich & Marathoner Vincent Ngetich also graced the event.
