Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has assured over 1000 Jua Kali Sector members that their 21 acre parcel of land in London Ward will be restored to them.
The parcel of land adjacent to Gioto dump site has had wrangles that even ended up in courts.

However, speaking during a visit in the area on Wednesday July 2, 2025, Governor Kihika assured the members that the land will be restored to them.
Kihika who was accompanied by area MP Samwel Arama, Nakuru County CECM for trade Stephen Kuria and Francis Njoroge from Political Affairs Office, was categorical that the Jua Kali members have a right of ownership of the land.
“We will ensure the land is taken back to the Jua Kali members,” she stated.
Kihika added that in coordination with Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama, there shall be the construction of shaded workshop structures for the Jua Kali artisans and mechanics, creating better working conditions and supporting the growth of this vital informal sector.
“We are firmly focused on uplifting the informal economy in Nakuru County. By reclaiming land, providing infrastructure and fostering opportunities, we aim to empower local artisans and boost sustainable development,” she stated.
The Governor also visited the Prison land parcel in London Estate, Nakuru City, where plans are on to launch an Affordable Housing Project.
“In Nakuru, we’re fully committed to the national Affordable Housing Agenda. Our goal is to ensure that all residents, particularly those with low- and middle-income levels, have access to decent, dignified, and affordable housing. The current project underpins this commitment,” she said.
MP Arama on his part lauded Kihika for having the interests of the people at heart.
He assured that Nakuru Town West residents are fully behind President William Ruto’s administration.
The Lawmaker added that after elections, leaders should work together towards development.
