Gitonga: I’m ready to unmask corrupt officials behind GTI land saga

It has emerged that an official from the county government of Nakuru is to blame for the demolitions in Gilgil land belonging to Teleposta GTI.

Gilgil-based Human Rights Defender Moses Gitonga says a county official is said to have forged documents and allowed citizens to get allocation at the said parcel of land.

In a statement just days after government demolished some of the structures including houses that those who bought the land had erected, Gitonga said it was wrong to subject individuals to such suffering.

Speaking to famousnakuru.co.ke, Gitonga revealed that he had been allocated a parcel of land as bribe for him to stop raising some pertinent issues about the land, but he rejected the deal.

He goes further to state that he warned some individuals from purchasing plots on the said land, but they did not listen to him.

While expressing empathy for the locals affected, Gitonga stated that the government was to have a meeting with the residents before demolishing the houses.

“If there was a court order, then the government was to hold a meeting with families and give them some days be it 14 or so before the demolitions could take place,” he said.

According to Gitonga, a county government official was involved in the whole saga.

He says, the officer whom he is ready to face in court, forged documents and allegedly allocated land belonging to Teleposta.

“I demand that the county government take action on the officer who forged documents and allegedly allocated land belonging to TelePosta. I’m ready and available to give evidence in the highest court of the land,” he stated.
