Gilgil MP Martha Wangari claims the Elimu scholarship programme is sidelining some constituencies in disbursement of funds to needy students.
The MP has now vowed to raise the matter in parliament once the house resumes sittings.
According to the vocal Nakuru legislator, there is no clear understanding on the formality and procedure used to support bright students from poor backgrounds under the program.
“When Parliament resumes, I shall raise the issue as we do not understand the formality and procedure used” she said.
The MP was speaking in Gilgil Town after disbursing Sh3.8 million towards supporting 88 needy students in various secondary schools.
Elimu Scholarship is a shared vision among the founders to make a change by addressing some of the ills affecting rural Kenya among them poverty which is hindering access to education.
The Elimu Scholarship fund gives these kids a chance at secondary school education and beyond, an opportunity that they’d otherwise not have.
