G4S security officers down tools over salary cuts, poor working terms

G4S security officers have protested the salary cuts and enforcement of poor working terms accusing the HR officers of unilaterally implementing some policies that are unfavorable to the employees.

Speaking at their closed offices in Nakuru town, the shop steward Joshua Okoth said that the implementation was not out of an agreement between the company and the workers and as such called for the reversal of the salary cuts.

“The implementation was not out of an agreement between the company and the workers and we therefore call for reversal of the salary cuts” he said.

They called for the dismissal of the HR officer Elijah Sitima to pave way for conclusive talks between their union and the company to find an amicable way.

Branch manager Francis Gathungu while trying to calm the agitated workers asked them to be mindful of their clients who are the bread for the implementation of their concerns.

The G4S offices remained shut for the better part of the day as the workers remained put outside the offices waiting for further directions.
