Former Presiding Judge Nakuru High Court joins Court of Appeal

Hon. Lady Justice Hedwig Imbosa Ong’udi is among 15 Judges who were sworn in on Wednesday January 28, 2026 at State House Nairobi.
Until her appointment, Lady Justice Ong’udi was the Presiding Judge Nakuru High Court. She is aa seasoned Kenyan judge with over 40 years of service.
She also served as the presiding judge at the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division (Nairobi).
Hon Lady Justice Ong’udi was appointed High Court Judge in 2011. 

She Joined the judiciary on July 22, 1985, as a District Magistrate II, serving for decades before her 2011 appointment as a Judge.

Served as the first presiding judge of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division and later presided over the Constitutional and Human Rights Division.

Notable for issuing orders against the implementation of new Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) positions in 2023.

She was Named the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Judge of the Year in 2019.

Has worked in various stations including Embu, Kericho, Makueni, and Nakuru.

She is recognized for her commitment, firm temperament, and experience in handling high-profile, complex, and constitutional matters. 
Other Judges who were sworn in alongside Justice Ong’udi are Nduma Nderi, Linet Ndolo, Chacha Mwita, Lucy Njuguna, Samson Okong’o, Rachel Ng’etich, Katwa Kigen, Stephen Radido, Brown Kairaria, Issack Hassan, Paul Lilan, Sila Munyao, Johnson Okello and Byram Ongaya.
