Former Molo MP Jacob Macharia resigns as Director to vie as MP

Jacob Macharia, who once served as Member of Parliament for Molo Constituency, has resigned his position as Director of Ewaso Ngiro South Development Authority (ENSDA) to pursue his political dreams.

Macharia who lost his seat to Hon. Francis Kuria Kimani in 2017 had served as Molo legislator from 2013 to 2017 having dislodged James Njenga Mungai.

“Today l have concluded my position as a Director at ENSDA so that l can now effectively pursue the Molo parliamentary seat in the next general election,” wrote Hon. Jacob Macharia. Among his achievements as Director, was getting a fully equipped borehole in Tayari village. He is also in the process of establishing a potato value addition factory.

Hon. Macharia who will be battling it out with among others the incumbent Hon. Kuria Kimani hopes to reclaim his seat on a UDA party ticket. On 26th July 2021, Jacob paid a courtesy call to the Deputy President at his Karen residence, where he technically joined the United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA).

Jacob Waweru Macharia was born in Molo where today stands Mugumo Secondary school.  His parents later moved to Turi Division before moving to Miilima Mitatu Farmer’s Cooperative Society where they engaged in peasant farming. He lives in Salama, Elburgon, where he has put up his family home.

For his education, Jacob started at Mianzini Primary School before joining Michinda Secondary School for his “O” levels.

After high school, the former MP joined Kenyatta University to pursue a Bachelor of Education and later a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management. While still a fresher at Kenyatta University, Jacob engaged in elective politics when he vied as a Secretary-General for the Kenyatta University Students Association, KUSA. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Salford, Lancashire in the UK.

As an MP, Jacob served in both the Committee on Implementation and the Education, Research & Technology committee.

Jacob was appointed to the ENSDA board by President Uhuru Kenyatta after his loss in the 2017 general elections. He is expected to pit a spirited political battle against the incumbent, CPA Kuria Kimani.
