The ongoing heavy rains are continuing to wreak havoc in most parts of Nakuru county with several estates reporting floods.

In Kivumbini estate residents were forced o stay indoors after floods rendered the estate impassable.

The populated informal settlement which is close to the Lake Nakuru National Park, has in the past fallen victim of flooding with waters flowing downstream from up Nakuru finding a resting place in the estate.

In Shabab estate, George Momanyi road was rendered impassable after a huge fault line developed across the road as a result of heavy rains.

In Mwariki estate bordering Lake Nakuru, families have been forced to move to safer grounds after floodwater found its way into their homes and farms.

In Mosop and Visoi wards at least 150 families have been misplaced after river Rigogo burst its bans.

Rongai Sub-county commissioner said that the river which is uncommon with flooding has swollen as a result of heavy rains emanating from the Mau region

Last week hundreds of families in Maella ward were left homeless after a dam burst its banks in the area and swept away their homes

The county government of Nakuru through its disaster department has been assisting affected families with temporary shelter, food, and medicine.
