Eight buffaloes were electrocuted near Wildlife Clubs of Kenya (WCK) in Lake Nakuru National Park, killing them on the spot.
A statement to Newsrooms dated April 12, 2024 indicates that the unfortunate incident occurred after the buffaloes got into contact with high voltage power lines lying low on the ground.
Kenya Power Company officials who responded to the distress call indicated that the electrocution was prompted by a broken wooden Cross Arms carrying 33 high voltage due to heavy rainfall in the area.
To deter similar occurrences, the Kenya Power Company undertook to replace the wooden Cross Arms with a metallic one.
