Education officials defend selection formula despite students’ concerns over placement

Education officials have defended themselves over the cries from some of the students placed in schools not their choices that most of the first choice schools have limited capacity to absorb them and will send them to the other choices.

Speaking at Afraha high school on Wednesday when she released the list of students joining extra county schools in 7 counties, Rift valley Regional coordinator of Education Mary Gaturu absolved the ministry saying that the selection was informed by merit, performance and capacity of the schools.

However, she urged all the students who have been wrongly placed in schools that is not for their gender or special to report to the nearest education office for them to be addressed immediately and rectified.
