Drivers, passengers screened for COVID-19 in Nakuru

At least 2,500 passengers and drivers plying the Nairobi-Naivasha and Nakuru-Eldoret highway were today screened in an exercise aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19.

Public Health Officers conducted the screening at Mau Summit and Naivasha.

The move comes a day after Nakuru Governor H.E Lee Kinyanjui said he was consulting with other Governors in parts of Rift Valley and Western on measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

During the random screening, passengers and driver were also trained by officers from the County Department of Health on measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Health CECM Dr Gichuki Kariuki said the exercise will continue on the Nakuru-Naivasha highway as it is a transit route.

“None of those screened had high temperature or symptoms to warrant further tests,” said Dr Gichuki.
