Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has shared insights on the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project.
Speaking at Nakuru Boys High School on Sunday August 3, 2025 during the launch of Economic Empowerment program for Nakuru Town East Constituency, the DP revealed that NYOTA project unveiled by President William Ruto aims to empower young people across the country.
According to Kindiki, NYOTA project targets 820,000 unemployed youth, including individuals living with disabilities.
He added this is a government initiative that aims to address challenges of unemployment among young people.
“We have a program called NYOTA and we are targeting SMEs and our young people,” he stated.
It should be noted that Cabinet has approved the roll-out of a new government initiative, the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, designed to combat youth unemployment and empower vulnerable groups with practical job skills.
Backed by the World Bank, NYOTA will offer paid work experience, entrepreneurship support, and certification of existing skills under its multi-pronged structure.
A key feature of the program is paid on-the-job training for 90,000 young people across the country.
The scheme is part of a broader government effort under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which emphasizes inclusive economic development and grassroots empowerment.
