Mental health challenges are now becoming monster in the country.
Many are going through mental health issues with or without knowledge of the same.
Experts are now attributing the rising cases of mental health issues to harsh economic times, unemployment and unmet goals in life.
In an interview with famousnakuru.co.ke in Eldama Ravine, Dr Rose Omango from Oasis for the Vulnerable Group Organization says mental health cases are now rampant in society.
She pointed out a recent case where a university student committed suicide due to the student’s name missing in graduation list.
“The other day we had a case of a student who committed suicide due to name missing in graduation list. The student felt it was a shame and that’s how life ended,” she revealed.
Dr Rose noted that families are going through a lot and time is now for people to open up and speak.
She advocates that silence should not be the solution in this matter.
According to her, if only people can talk and share their challenges in life, then solutions can be found and help address some of the mental health cases arising.
“Never die in silence-seek help talk to someone who can assist. At the end of the day you will be supported.
She added that addressing mental health is a collective responsibility where everyone should come out and talk about it.
Dr. Rose called on young people to develop the habit of talking and sharing the challenges they are going through in life.
According to her, this can help solve many problems.
“Don’t feel as if there is no one to talk to. Reach out. We have many organizations that are assisting on issues counseling and psycho sociopath,” she said.
