The Government is keen on enhancing access to TVET training through a multi-faceted approach.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba says this is a commitment of government.
The approach involves increasing the number of institutions and equipping them, while at the same time promoting affordability through scholarships and loans, and enhancing convenience in training through the modularized curriculum.
On Thursday, the Cabinet Secretary visited the newly built Magarini Technical and Vocational College in Kilifi County.
The Cabinet Secretary engaged with local leaders, education stakeholders and the local community on the role of TVET in empowering the youth locally and beyond.
The successful implementation of Competency-Based Education (CBE) hinges on having well-trained teachers capable of effectively delivering the curriculum.
The Government has taken steps to ensure that teacher training in colleges and universities is fully aligned with the requirements of CBE.
The CS also visited Galana Teachers Training College in Kilifi County, where he received a briefing on the strategies being implemented to train and equip teachers for the effective rollout of the new curriculum.
Subsequently, the Cabinet Secretary toured Galana Boys High School.
The visit offered an opportunity to assess the school’s preparedness for the inaugural transition to Senior School and to engage local education stakeholders on regional and national education priorities.
