Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui on Wednesday October 1, 2025 met a delegation from Malaysia with aim to boost trade between the two countries; Kenya and Malaysia.

According to Kinyanjui, Currently, the balance of trade favours Malaysia.

He was however quick to point out that the Ministry is looking for ways on how to reduce this through increased exports and investment in manufacturing.

“We explored opportunities to expand exports of avocados, tea, and coffee, deepen collaboration in palm oil production, and attract more Malaysian tourists to Kenya. We also highlighted opportunities for Malaysian companies to invest in our Special Economic Zones, particularly in the manufacturing of gloves and furniture,” he said.

The meeting was also attended by PS Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana, PS Investment Promotion Abubakar Hassan, and EPZA CEO Richard Omelo.
