COVID-19 preparedness-Water companies ordered to stop water rationing

Water companies within the Rift Valley Region have been ordered to stop water rationing and reconnect water supply they had disconnected as one way of combating the spread of the Corona virus.

Rift Valley Regional; Commissioner,George Natembeya, ordered the Director of Rift valley water works to immediately ensure that all water companies within the Rift region maintain a constant water supply to its clients.

Natembeya said that uninterrupted water supply will ensure that residents have enough water to use in washing hands and general cleanliness as a measure begin encouraged to combat the spread of the corona virus.

Speaking in Nakuru after chairing a regional corona virus emergency response team,Natembeya added that even clients with pending water bills should continue receiving  the service of water supply noting that issue of bills can be sorted latter.

He added that water rationing especially in densely populated urban area should cease with immediate effect.

Natembeya however called for responsible use of water from residents within the region

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui had on Wednesday said that his administration will start supplying water in slum areas  and creating hand washing points to ensure that residents have enough water not enable them maintain good hygiene practices.
