COVID-19: Clinicians call for a ban on political rallies

The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers and Kenya Clinical Officers Association now want all political and non-essential gatherings banned.

While noting that there is rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country, they said it was so hypocritical for politicians to continue holding rallies across the country.

Led by the National Chairman Peterson Wachira, they faulted the political class for not adhering to the COVID-19 containment measures.

“We cannot be  saying that we are in the war against COVID-19 yet the political class has continued to go against the containment measures and that is why we are saying let there be a ban on those rallies” said Wachira.

The officials of the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers and Kenya Clinical Officers Association were addressing media in Nakuru after visiting several counties to assess the situation of frontline healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.

According to the Clinical officers, if the Government will not take it serious the second wave of the COVID-19 will strongly sweep the nation.

They appealed to members of the public to stop emulating political class but rather continue adhering to the set guidelines and measures on COVID-19.

“We call on members of the public to continue adhering to the COVID-19 containment measures” said Secretary General Kenya Clinical Officers Association Joseph Chebii.
