County Government of Nakuru to cater for all medical expenses for survivors of Mai-Mahiu Flood tragedy

The county government of Nakuru will cater for all medical expenses for all survivors of the Mai-Mahiu Flash Flood tragedy who are undergoing treatment in Hospitals.

This is according to Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.

Governor Susan Kihika made the announcement when she accompanied President William Ruto, to empathize with victims of Monday’s devastating flash floods tragedy in Mai Mahiu, which claimed the lives of 48 people.

Governor Kihika assured affected families of the Nakuru County Government’s commitment to collaborating with the National Government to fulfill their basic needs.

Additionally, Governor Kihika pledged that the county government would cover all medical expenses for those currently receiving treatment in hospitals and outlined plans in collaboration with the national government to provide shelter for the displaced.

She also announced initiatives to either rebuild homes or secure new accommodations.

Governor Kihika emphasized her administration’s dedication to ensuring that the education of children affected by the tragedy remains uninterrupted, with plans to collaborate closely with the President on this matter.

Both Governor Kihika and President Ruto expressed deep sympathy for the families affected by the tragedy and assured them of government support during these challenging times.

President Ruto announced plans to evacuate individuals living in riparian reserves to prevent further loss of life from flash floods and landslides. He assured the availability of food and non-food items for those affected by the disaster.
