It is a sigh of relief for residents of Eden in Kiamunyi,Nakuru West Sub county who were affected by the heavy downpour as county government of Nakuru has stepped in with aid.
The aftermath of heavy rains that were experienced on Sunday have rendered families hopeless.
However, a visit by a team from the County Government led by the County secretary Dr. Samuel Mwaura assessed the extent of the damage caused giving hope to the locals.
The aim of the assessment is to provide immediate aid and support to those adversely affected by the natural disaster.
As a short term solution,an excavator has been deployed to create an earth drain at Eden and madurugada farm(Buckley Farm) that will reduce the excess water affecting the residents.
Additionally, representatives from the Disaster Management department led by Chief Officer Alice Abuki who were also present to offer their expertise and support provided humanitarian assistance to the affected families including mattresses,blankets and food stuffs.
Dr. Mwaura, recognizing the need for long-term solutions and comprehensive planning, has constituted a team led by Chief Officer for Agriculture Newton Mwaura to strategize on areas of survey and land use planning.
The county government through the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika is working closely to monitor the situation and coordinate relief efforts in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
