Construction of Rironi-Mau Summit Road commences this August, DP Kindiki assures Nakuru residents

Construction of the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway begins this August.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured residents of Nakuru of the same.

Speaking in Nakuru on Sunday during economic empowerment program for Nakuru Town East Constituency, the DP termed this a milestone and a game changer in the movement of people and transportation of goods in a safer, faster and effective.

He noted that this is a major project that will accelerate the socio-economic transformation of the Rift Valley, Western and Nyanza Regions and connecting Kenya to the East African Community.

It should be noted that the Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit Highway is a critical part of the Northern Corridor and the Trans African Highway, a vital transport artery linking the East African Countries, underscoring the importance of the 175 kilometre Highway expansion project.

The DP also used the moment to highlight on significant strides made as far matters power connectivity acroas the country are concerned.

According to Kindiki, last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme covering all the 290 Constituencies in the Country is underway.

The Program is targeting more than 4 million additional households in four years.

“Once successfully completed, the last mile connectivity programme will bring to 15.6 million the total number of households connected to the national grid, up from the current 10.6 million and 8.9 million in 2022,” he stated.

In Nakuru County, DP Kindiki revealed that electricity connectivity projects worth 2.2 billion shillings are in progress, to onboard 22,000 new households.

He called on residents to continue supporting President William Ruto’s administration.

The DP told off those engaging in mere politics, terming them individuals who have no development agenda.

“Under the leadership of President William Ruto, our focus is on service delivery. A time for politics shall come and we shall do so,” he said.

The DP was hosted by Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria alongside Governor Susan Kihika and a number of MPs from Nakuru County.
