Hon. Charles Maisiba who has lost twice in his quest for Nakuru Town West parliamentary seat has been appointed County chair of bursaries allocation. The former councillor whose political fortunes have greatly dwindled in the last 10 years was appointed to the position by the Nakuru County governor Lee Kinyanjui.
His appointment has been received by jubilation by many residents from Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West who feel that Charles Maisiba is up to task.
Maisiba came second in the 2013 parliamentary elections losing to the current MP Hon. Samuel Arama who was then in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Hon. Arama defected to the Jubilee party halfway through his term and he was once again to beat Maisiba and several others know the April 2017 Jubilee party nominations. Hon. Maisiba is most popular in Rhoda ward which although is predominantly Kikuyu, has supported Maisiba who is a Kisii as is the current MP. Charles Maisiba served as chairman of the Education committee while he was councillor. He will now be overseeing the distribution of the over 100 million shillings annually that has been set aside by the county government towards bursaries.
