Bernard Murunga sworn in as new Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) chairperson

Former AFC Leopards Deputy Secretary General Bernard Murunga has officially been sworn in as Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) chairperson.

He takes over the mantle for a period of 5 years.

Murunga previously served under Senior Counsel John Ohaga, whose 10-year tenure as SDT chair ended in November 2024.

After Ohaga’s departure, Hon. Jane Njeri Onyango briefly held the reins in an acting capacity until a substantive appointment could be made.

Murunga was instrumental in key decisions during his previous term and brings extensive experience in legal and dispute resolution matters.

The seasoned Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, was admitted to the bar in 2000 and boasts 25 years of post-admission experience.

His leadership portfolio also includes chairing the Centum Investments Staff Pension Scheme and serving on the Council of the Association of Retirement Benefit Schemes.
