
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika on Thursday February 15, 2024 concluded her successful tour of the launch of Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement P in Nakuru West and Nakuru East sub-counties.
The Governor who was accompanied by area MPs Samuel Arama(Nakuru West) and David Gikaria(Nakuru East) as well as MCAs did not miss her words with various infrastructural projects being launched in various low income areas in the two Sub counties.
The areas included Hilton area in London Ward-Nakuru West, Lakeview estate in Flamingo Ward and Kwa Murogi area-Free Area of Nakuru East Ward.
In Hilton,London Ward of Nakuru West Sub county, the KISIP Project will see major access roads in the expansive Hilton informal settlement tarmacked.
Through KISIP2, the Governor revealed that tarmacking shall commence for Ghuba Road, Geko Road and Roho Safi Road, along with drainage and foot-paths for pedestrians for the residents to raise their living conditions.

“I am also working with the area MP and MCA to modernize the market in London and construct an ICT hub with a recording studio to tap talent in London. Mine is to work for all Nakuru County residents especially the common mwananchi,” stated Kihika.
Meanwhile, in LakeView informal Settlement in Flamingo Ward, Nakuru Town East the tarmacking of Machakos Carriageway under the KISIP slum infrastructure improvement project will take place.
In addition to tarmacking the carriageway, drainage works and a foot-path for pedestrians shall be done.
The area residents have a reason to smile too as Kihika revealed that a High mast security lighting will be erected in the area to enhance security.
“I urge the contractor to employ casuals from the ward and increase their pay to Kshs650 and Kshs1200 daily for non-skilled workers and artisans respectively,” stated Kihika.
The Governor also used the opportunity to announce a waiver on rental arrears for county housing tenants.
On health matters, Kihika hinted at converting Langalanga Health facility into a 24-hour facility.
This, she noted will help in service delivery to the people.
Governor Kihika concluded the ground breaking events for slum improvement at Kwa Murogi in Nakuru Town East Sub County.
The works involved include construction of Solid Rock-Mpeketoni Road, Mpeketoni-Hill Crest Road, non-motorized transport facilities for pedestrians and drainage along the roads.
“We will also erect highlighting security masts along St Augustine Road, near Murogi Market, at Lion Hill Crest and along Solid Rock Road,” she stated.
As a way of improving health services, the Governor promised to upgrade Lanet Health Centre and provide a backup generator in cases of power blackouts.
She added that services at the health centre will be improved to the satisfaction of patients.
