Residents of Barut Centre in Nakuru Town West Constituency have called for the reopening of one of the closed-access road in the area.

They spoke during a public forum held at the Centre.
According to the locals, the road serves as the most direct route to Barut Health Centre, hence the closure has seen them take longer routes to access health services.
Besides, the said road also serves as an important link to the offices of the area Chief and the Assistant County Commissioner.

Speaking at the meeting, area Member of County Assembly Benard Kirui opined that the engagement was meant to listen to residents and address issues affecting their daily lives.
He at the same time urged residents to contonue supporting government’s development agenda.
Sentiments echoed by Chief Officer for Public Participation, Edward Gitau, and Mr. Martin Gicinga from Governor’s Office.

The duo assured the residents that the views raised would help in informing the decision moving forward.
Gitau also used the moment to brief residents on ongoing county programmes, including Lishe na Mama, ECDE classroom construction, the operationalisation of Burgei Hospital, and road works under the Imarisha Barabara programme.
The meeting was attended by the area Chief David Kering, ACC Sharon Chelang’at, Engineer Solomon Macharia, Ward Admin Beatrice Kering and Physical Planner Evans Otieno among others.
