Bar,Hotel, liquor Traders to issue statement on state of the sector

The National Bar, Hotels and Liquor Traders Association of Kenya (BAHLITA) will this week issue an official statement on the state of the sector in the country.

According to notice to members and seen by famousnakuru.co.ke, the statement that will be issued in Nairobi on Wednesday February 28, 2024 will highlight some of the challenges that the sector is facing.

“Hello everyone, hope this finds well. We will be having a Press Conference addressing the current issues affecting liquor traders nationally in Nairobi,” reads the notice.

This coming at a time when there is a crackdown on illicit brew and counterfeit liquor in various counties including Nakuru.

And just recently, a court made a ruling that local brew ‘Muratina’ that is common in central Kenya is not illicit paving way for its production and consumption.

In previous Pressers, BAHLITA Secretary General Boniface revealed that the sector has never recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic effects.
