Barcelona FC from Mauche Ward are the winners of Kibet Kirui Tournament season one.
This follows their win against Tigers FC in a finals played at Teret Imarisha Stadium in Mauche Ward on Sunday December 14, 2025.
The match ended in a draw of 3 goals prompting the centre referee to call for penalties that saw Barcelona FC emerge the winners.
They were crowned champions by the sponsor of the Tournament Kibet Kirui in an event graced by football enthusiasts, leaders and artists.
Maili Tatu FC won against Wakanda FC becoming number 3 while the latter is number 4.
Both teams received trophies and monetary awards from Mr. Kibet Kirui.
There was also racing competition and winners awarded.
Speaking during the event, Kibet Kirui pointed out that this is just Season one of the Tournament dubbed Njoro Dialogue Football Tournament Season One.
He added that the aim of such Tournaments is to nurture talents among youth, but also to have a dialogue on how to avert drugs and substance abuse which has become a menace.
Kirui used the moment to also fault leaders who have been using young people for political mileage.
According to him, the government has continued to provide numerous funds for the youth but they end up in wrong hands.
“Elected leaders have one dirty to better the lives of the people. They should therefore work towards the same rather than using young people only for their political scores,” he said.
Kibet Kirui who has declared interest in the Njoro Constituency seat come 2027, urged youth to also register as voters and make their voice count.
The event was also graced by Mauche Ward MCA Moses Koros among others.
