Just a day after President William Ruto met with Jubilee Members of County Assembly and MPs at Statehouse Nakuru, a section of Jubilee supporters in Nakuru have staged protests over the same.
The supporters led by Nakuru West Politician Asumpta Wangui are now demanding that action be taken against the Jubilee leaders who attended the meeting.
Addressing journalists in Nakuru on Friday January 12, 2024, Asumpta noted that such a move by President Ruto is ill advised as it has agenda to weaken opposition.
Armed with placards and ‘yellow cards’ as a warning to Jubilee lawmakers who attended the meeting, the Jubilee supporters in Nakuru called on residents to be vigilant against any attempt to neutralize opposition.
Asumpta told of Nakuru Jubilee leaders from MCAs to MPs who attended the Thursday meeting at Statehouse and vowed loyalty to President William Ruto.
According to the vocal Jubilee politician, they will rally voters from respective electoral areas to collect signatures and facilitate the process of recalling the lawmakers.
“We will move to collect signatures so that these leaders who are betraying the Jubilee Party can be recalled for a fresh election,” she said.
Asumpta also calling on Registrar of Political Parties to safeguard political parties against any external interference.
Sentiments echoed by Ben Gathogo alias Mlala hoi.
According to Gathogo, any member who shows loyalty to another part different from a party that sponsored him to Parliament should resign and allow fresh elections.
Jubilee party has been faced with leadership wrangles for months now as two groups claim to be bona fide officials of the party.
One group led by Jeremiah Kioni has remained loyal to Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja coalition while the other by Kanini Kega shifted allegiance to President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition.
