It is a plus for Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika following confirmation of 187 healthcare workers.
The Wednesday February 7, 2024 event held at ATC Soilo is a fulfilment of Governor Susan Kihika’s campaign pledge.
It will be recalled that during her campaigns towards August 9, 2022 general polls, Kihika promised to ensure all healthcare workers on contract are confirmed to Permanent and Pensionable terms.
“Today, I’ve made good my campaign pledge to promote health workers on contract to Permanent and Pensionable terms,” stated Kihika.
The Governor witnessed the handing of letters of confirmation to some of the 187 health workers who are now permanent employees of the County Government of Nakuru.
She reiterated that with availability of resources, her administration will make permanent the 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2023 cohorts.
Speaking during the event, Kihika urged the healthcare workers to maintain high standards of discipline.
“As we move forward to better our healthcare system through human resource and improved service delivery, I urge our healthcare staff to serve with discipline, dedication, professionalism as front soldiers in the health sector,” she stated.
Kihika also used the moment to warn a section of politicians who are out to politicize health matters in the county.
She asked the political class to keep politics out of health facilities.
“You cannot politicize health facilities for they are sanctuaries of saving life,” she added.
The Governor vowed to protect health workers from such threats by individuals she termed as selfish who are playing reckless politics.
