Kuresoi South Deputy County Commissioner Malack Namai has sounded stern warning to individuals who are in the business of selling government’s subsidized fertilizer.
He noted that there are cartels and middlemen, who are re-selling or inflating the prices of government-subsidized fertilizer.
According to the administrator, those found selling subsidized fertilizer at higher rates than the mandated price of Kshs 2,500 to 3,500 per 50kg bag will face prosecution.
He was addressing press after police alongside officers from Ministry of Agriculture impounded 140 baga of subsidized fertilizer in Keringet, Kuresoi South.
The DCC warned that anyone found sabotaging the subsidy program including by selling to unregistered individuals or in bulk to middlemen will be apprehended.
