Hindu faithful in Nakuru city over the weekend congregated to unveil a 20-feet Lord Hanuman Dada idol.

This was unveiled during the Sthapna ceremony at Shri Krishna Temple in Nakuru.
It was pomp, colour and dances durimg the event that started within Nakuru CBD before climax at Shri Krishna Temple at section 58.
Speaking during the event, Nakuru Hindu Council Chairman Shailesh Sheth revealed thag this is the tallest in East Africa.

He added that this is also the second tallest in Africa after the South Africa one.
The Hindu Council Chairman stated that the 20-feet Lord Hanuman Dada idol is revered among Hinduism and that devotees will be free to meet before the Idol and pray for wisdom and guidance.
He added that the Temple which is 110 years has also erected concrete benches within to allow visiting devotees to have their prayers there.
According to him, the journey of erecting Lord Hanuman has taken close to 25 years, adding that there were challenges to find a 20feet stone from the same.
He pointed out that those who worked on it were from Kenya and not India.
“The journey started in Kisii Town in some of the quarries as we looked for 20 feet stone. However, there were challenges in finding the same and so we settled for two stones of 12 feet each. It has taken them long but we can see the end product which is key and significant to us the Hindu community,” he said.
He revealed that Tuesdays and Saturdays are dedicated towards prayers to Lord Hanuman for wisdom and guidance.
Sheth lauded the families that contributed towards making the event successful.
He at the same revealed that indigenous people are also following Hindu religion very piuosly.
India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya, Sushil Prasad who also graced the event, stated that the unveiling of the Lord Hanuman is historical in the Hindu Community in Kenya.
According to him, Indians who came to Kenya have continued to support the Kenyan economy.
He lauded them for the support on matters charity works.
