A section of Njoro residents are demanding answers following the arrest of local Chief.
Sources have it that the Mau Narok chief was arrested over unknown reason.
The residents are now demanding answers from Regional Police Commander Nakuru over the matter.
They have submitted a memorandum to formally raise concerns regarding the recent arrest of the area Chief by officers attached to Njoro Police Station.
According to the residents, the area Chief has been a key figure in the administration of government services, coordination of community development initiatives, maintenance of peace and order, and resolution of local disputes.
They added that his role has been central to effective service delivery and community stability in Njoro.
“The arrest of the area Chief has caused disruption to administrative functions and ongoing community activities. While the residents fully acknowledge and respect the constitutional mandate of the National Police Service to enforce the law, there is significant concern regarding the manner and timing of the arrest and its adverse impact on community operations,” reads part.
There is widespread public perception that this action has interfered with local administration and community work, thereby affecting service delivery and eroding public confidence.
The residents have raised concerns among them; Lack of clarity regarding the circumstances leading to the arrest, disruption of community leadership and administration, Negative impact on ongoing development and coordination activities, Growing concern and uncertainty among residents.
They have requested the Regional Police Commander to review the circumstances and justification surrounding the arrest of the area Chief, ensure that due process, fairness, and transparency are strictly observed, Consider the broader implications of this action on community stability and administration and take appropriate measures to restore confidence and normal operations within Njoro.
