In a heartwarming display of compassion and community service, senior officers from the National Police Service (NPS) Traffic Department visited the Thika Comprehensive School for the Visually Impaired on Saturdat January 10, 2026, delivering much-needed donations and a message of hope for the new year.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Commandant of Traffic, Mr.Kipkemoi Kirui, CP, and comprising the Officer in Charge of the Northern Corridor Transit Patrol Unit, Ms.Beatrice Kiraguri, CP, and the Nairobi Regional Traffic Officer, Mr.Joseph Chirchir, CP, delivered a variety of foodstuffs and toiletries.
Thika Comprehensive School currently serves 424 learners from across Kenya and the wider East African region.
The institution is dedicated to fostering independence through diverse educational pathways, including: Age-Based Programmes like Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), Primary, and Junior School.
Stage-Based Programmes include Foundation, Intermediate, and Pre-Vocational training.
While specialised skills include Braille literacy, Orientation and Mobility, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Guidance and Counselling.

The school’s Head Teacher, Mrs.Penina Mutuku, received the donations with profound gratitude.
She noted that the officers’ visit provided a significant motivational boost for the pupils, stating that such gestures of kindness lay a strong foundation for the academic year and remind the learners they are valued members of society.
The visit served as a powerful reminder of the National Police Service’s commitment to community engagement beyond its regular duties, fostering a spirit of mutual support and shared responsibility.
Also present were the Thika West Sub-County Commander, Mr.Lawrence Muchangi, SSP, and the Kiambu County Traffic Enforcement Officer, Ms.Martha Gitau, SP, among other officers.
Officials from the school in attendance included the Deputy Head Teacher, Mr.Benard Kiplimo; the Senior Teacher, Mr.John Musau; and the School Chaplain, Ms.Enasy Gitonga.
