Bahati MP Irene Njoki has called for concerted effort in addressing gender based violence.
The MP noted that the rising cases of GBV in society calls for collaboration among stakeholders in addressing the same.
This, she stated during a civic engagement forum with residents drawn from all five wards to confront the urgent issue of gender-based violence.
This was not a routine talk, but a step toward lasting change.
During the forum, the attendees challenged harmful norms, and agreed that no woman should live in fear, not at home, at work, or in her community.
The Lawmaker thanked President William Samoei Ruto for his commitment and support for this very timely initiative.
According to Njoki, President Ruto’s leadership has enabled real action.
She at the same time called on leaders and citizens to uphold a culture of respect, justice and protection.
“As leaders and citizens, we must uphold a culture of respect, justice, and protection because safety is not a privilege it is a right,” she stated.
