54 Senators sign to oust Kindiki as Sakaja,Kamar refuse to replace him

At least 54 Senators have signed to support the petition to remove Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki from the position of Senate Deputy Speaker.

The Senate Standing orders require that for the removal of the Deputy Speaker to be effected two thirds of the Senators must support the move.

Both jubilee party and NASA coalition Senators are reported to have signed the petition after being mobilized by their respective parties.

The motion to replace Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki was moved yesterday by  Senate majority whip Irungu Kangata.

While moving the notice of motion,Kang’ata who is also the Muranga county Senator said that,Kindiki violated party rules and regulations among them failing to attend a party meeting convened by the party leader.

The jubilee party accuses Kindiki of failing to give reasons as to why he failed to attend the meeting even after being asked to do so.

The motion is scheduled for debate on Thursday.

The close ally of Deputy President William Ruto will be the latest victim of the President Uhuru led cleanup of the ruling jubilee party.

At the same time it is reported that Nairobi Senator Johnston Sakaja and Uasin Gishu Senator Prof. Magret Kamar have rejected the offer of replacing Kindiki as the Senate Deputy Speaker.

Sources within the Senate suggest that Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo and Nominated Senator Judy Pareno are being fronted  as the possible replacement of Kindiki
